2019 CrossFit Open is Coming!

The Open is coming soon!

What is the Open? It is the all-inclusive, open invitation, world wide test of fitness that leads up and is an initial qualifier for the CrossFit Games.

Who should participate? Everyone...if you can read and are older than 13 years old, you should do it.

But, I'm new enough to CrossFit that I don't have all the movements down; What then? Just like our classes, all of the WOD's are scaled....so that excuse doesn't cut it.

What if I'm going to be out of town during one or more of the WOD's? It's OK. There are likely CrossFit Boxes where you are going to be. Like us, they welcome drop-in's and with a little advance notice, they will accommodate you. Or, if you miss a WOD, it is not the end of the world.

What is the atmosphere like? It's awesome!! It's just like our classes...though it is sometimes a little louder and more energy is present... Just like our classes, the WOD's are just workouts, and everyone is doing their own thing, working hard to do their best, just like you.

Can I bring people? We encourage you to bring your friends and family both to cheer you on and so you can show them how your hard work is paying off.

When is it? The first WOD is announced Thursday, February 21st. Then you have until the following Monday, February 25th at 5:00 p.m. to complete the workout. Every Thursday for the following four weeks, a new WOD is announced, with the same Monday deadline to get it done.

Why should I compete when there is no way I'm going to win? This is not about winning or losing or even about bragging rights. The Open is about getting together with friends in a setting that will push you to perform at your very best. It is about finding new personal bests, overcoming that next obstacle. It is about cheering your friends on and celebrating with them when they finish.

Should I sign up online? For sure! I'm the first person that doesn't want to surrender my cash, but I'll be the first person to admit that I like to see where I stack up in the world, region and state. Even better, I like that I can go back and look over my scores and where I've placed for past years, to see progress.

How do I sign up? Sign-ups are not yet open. When they are, we will announce it. In the meantime, it is fun to explore the CrossFit Games website to look at past WOD's and see how everything is set up. www.games.crossfit.com

If you have further questions, be sure to ask one of your coaches. This year we hope to have our best participation so far. It will be a great time for all!!
